Washington, D.C. – September 28, 2018 –Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) released the following statement on the loss of Greater Memphis Chamber of Commerce CEO Phil Trenary, who was killed in a shooting in Memphis on September 27, 2018.
Congressman Kustoff said:"Roberta and I are heartbroken to hear of the loss of Phil Trenary last night. Phil was a good friend and an outstanding part of our community, and he will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time."

This event provides interested high school students and parents the opportunity to learn about the nomination process for our nation's military service academies.
Washington, D.C. – September 7, 2018 – The House of Representatives today passed legislation sponsored by U.S. Representative David Kustoff (TN-08) to ensure that individuals who make bomb threats and other credible threats of violence against community religious centers—based on the religious nature of that center—can be prosecuted for committing a hate crime.
The Protecting Religiously Affiliated Institutions Act of 2018 passed the House by unanimous consent and is headed to the White House where it awaits President Donald J. Trump's signature.

Washington, D.C. – July 26, 2018 – U.S. Representative David Kustoff (TN-08) today introduced H.R. 6554, the Substance Tableting and Encapsulating Enforcement and Registration (STEER) Act to combat the rampant national opioid epidemic.
The STEER Act is a bipartisan, bicameral bill, which requires official registration with the Attorney General for any person in possession of a tableting or encapsulating machine, also known as pill presses, to prevent the use of these machines to create and distribute narcotics.
