This law will ensure that individuals who make bomb threats and other credible threats of violence against community religious centers—based on the religious nature of that center—can be prosecuted for committing a hate crime.

Congressman Kustoff said:"Roberta and I are heartbroken to hear of the loss of Phil Trenary last night. Phil was a good friend and an outstanding part of our community, and he will be sorely missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time."

The Protecting Religiously Affiliated Institutions Act of 2018 passed the House by unanimous consent and is headed to the White House where it awaits President Donald J. Trump's signature.
