WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Representatives David Kustoff (TN-08) and William Timmons (SC-04) introduced H.R. 1954-the Cellphone Jamming Reform Act of 2019. Senators Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Lindsey Graham (R-SC) introduced identical legislation on the Senate side. This bill will address the use of contraband cell phones in state and federal correctional facilities.

Swatting is a call to a police department with a false story of a crime in progress-with the intent to draw a large number of police officers to a particular address. This measure would penalize false communications intending to cause an emergency response.

The Protecting Religiously Affiliated Institutions Act of 2018 passed the House by unanimous consent and is headed to the White House where it awaits President Donald J. Trump's signature.

Washington, D.C. – July 26, 2018 – U.S. Representative David Kustoff (TN-08) today introduced H.R. 6554, the Substance Tableting and Encapsulating Enforcement and Registration (STEER) Act to combat the rampant national opioid epidemic.
The STEER Act is a bipartisan, bicameral bill, which requires official registration with the Attorney General for any person in possession of a tableting or encapsulating machine, also known as pill presses, to prevent the use of these machines to create and distribute narcotics.
