WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) issued the following statement following the failure of the administrative leadership of Shelby County to properly store and administer the COVID-19 vaccine.
WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) and Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), re-introduced the bipartisan Criminalizing Abused Substance Templates (CAST) Act. The CAST Act modifies the Controlled Substances Act to define the criminal penalty for making counterfeit drugs using a pill press. Current law prohibits this practice but does not define the penalty. The CAST Act will make possession of a pill press mold, with the intent to counterfeit schedule I or II substances, a crime and allow for sentencing on possession alone for up to 20 years.
WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Representative David Kustoff (TN-08) issued the following statement following his vote against the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act of 2019. This bill would remove marijuana from the Controlled Substances Act's list of harmful narcotics. It would eliminate criminal penalties for manufacturing, distribution, and possession of marijuana, expunge a large number of federal marijuana related crimes, and it gives taxpayer dollars to the marijuana industry and services for convicted drug dealers.

WASHINGTON, DC— Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) announced three grants from the Department of Justice totaling $200,776 to West Tennessee. Madison County will receive $150,000 to the Reducing Injury and Death of Missing Individuals with Dementia and Developmental Disabilities Program. The City of Jackson will receive $38,643 and the City of Dyersburg will receive $12,133 to prevent and control crime.
Memphis, TN – U.S. Representative David Kustoff (TN-08), applauded the expansion of Operation Legend to Memphis, Tennessee. Operation Legend is a sustained, systematic and coordinated law enforcement initiative in which federal law enforcement agencies work in conjunction with state and local law enforcement officials to fight violent crime. Operation Legend is named in honor of four-year-old LeGend Taliferro, who was shot and killed while he slept early in the morning of June 29 in Kansas City. The first federal arrest under Operation Legend was announced on July 20.
