WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) voted against the $1.9 trillion COVID-19 spending bill. In this costly package, only 9% of funding is used on public health to defeat COVID-19 and more than $700 billion will not be spent until 2022 or later. The House voted on the final passage of this bill today after it passed in the Senate this weekend on a party line vote.
WASHINGTON, DC— Today, Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) announced his re-appointment by Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council, which works in coordination with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, consists of 55 members appointed by the President, five members from the U.S. House of Representatives, five members from the U.S. Senate, and three members from the Departments of Education, Interior, and State.

This legislation would ban federal no-knock drug warrants and require complaints against law enforcement officers to be made public, including those that are later found not to be credible. It also limits the ability of police departments to obtain additional resources from the federal government, which are used to help protect officers in life threatening situations.

WASHINGTON, DC—Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) voted against Speaker Pelosi's partisan $1.9 trillion COVID-19 package. This package includes a federally mandated $15/hour minimum wage, eliminates Hyde protections to prevent taxpayer dollars from paying for abortions, and includes numerous Democrat spending priorities that have no place in this relief plan (see below). Importantly, $1 trillion of previously designated COVID-19 funds have yet to be spent.

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Congressman David Kustoff (TN-08) and Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger (VA-07), re-introduced the bipartisan Criminalizing Abused Substance Templates (CAST) Act. The CAST Act modifies the Controlled Substances Act to define the criminal penalty for making counterfeit drugs using a pill press. Current law prohibits this practice but does not define the penalty. The CAST Act will make possession of a pill press mold, with the intent to counterfeit schedule I or II substances, a crime and allow for sentencing on possession alone for up to 20 years.
Washington, DC- Today, Representatives David Kustoff (TN-08) and Josh Gottheimer (NJ-05) re-introduced the Stop Corrupt Iranian Oligarchs and Entities Act. This bill would direct the Department of the Treasury, in consultation with the Department of State and Director of National Intelligence (DNI), to identify and compile a list of Iranian oligarchs and entities that are ultimately profiting off the Iranian people. Iranian oligarchs and foreign political figures are determined by their closeness to the Iranian regime and their net worth.
