Rep. Kustoff Statement Following House Passage of H.R. 8

Washington, D.C.—February 27, 2019—U.S. Representative David Kustoff (TN-08) today released the following statement after House passage of H.R. 8, the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2019.

"It's a shame Democrats continue to play politics with a serious issue," said Congressman Kustoff."Throughout my career, I have prosecuted criminals who illegally obtained firearms intent on committing a violent crime. H.R. 8 is the wrong approach to stopping gun violence and would do nothing to make our communities safer. The true intent of this bill is to ensnare law-abiding gun owners and restrict their Second Amendment rights."
