Kustoff Signs Petition to End Infanticide

April 2, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, Representative David Kustoff (TN-08) signed the discharge petition for the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act-H.R.962, legislation he cosponsored. This bill is designed to ensure any infant born alive after an abortion receives the same protection of law and medical care as any newborn would. It would also apply stronger penalties in cases where an overt act is taken to kill an abortion survivor.

A discharge petition was filed because House Democrats are blocking this important legislation from coming to the House floor for a vote. Once the petition receives 218 signatures, a full vote is forced on the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

"As a proud West Tennessean, I believe that we must give a voice to the unborn and preserve the life and health of all children. That includes babies born alive during an abortion. This is a simple measure that merely ensures any child who survives an abortion, receives immediate medical care, just as any other baby would. This should not be a partisan issue. I hope my colleagues on the other side of the aisle can join me in rejecting infanticide and protecting all babies who are born alive," said Rep. Kustoff.
