House Passes Kustoff Co-Sponsored Bill to Combat BDS

July 23, 2019

WASHINGTON, DC—Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed H.Res. 246, a resolution Congressman Kustoff co-sponsored that expresses the sense of the House to oppose efforts to delegitimize the State of Israel and the Global Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement (BDS) targeting Israel.

"The passage of this resolution is a first step in fighting back against the BDS campaign. However, the House must also pass legislation with some teeth. The BDS campaign is anti-Semitic at its core, and it must be condemned on a bipartisan and meaningful basis," said Rep. David Kustoff. "With a rise in anti-Semitism across our nation, Speaker Nancy Pelosi should allow the House to vote on H.R. 336, a bipartisan package which contains the Combating BDS Act of 2019. It is more important now than ever to continue the fight against this hateful movement, and the way to do that is with legislation that completely stamps it out."

Congressman Kustoff is a cosponsor of H.R. 336 and two months ago, Rep. Kustoff joined Steve Scalise (LA-01), Lee Zeldin (NY-01), Brian Mast (FL-18), and Michael McCaul (TX-10) in leading a discharge petition to try and force a vote on H.R. 336, the Strengthening America's Security in the Middle East Act of 2019. This legislation already passed the Senate months ago by a bipartisan vote of 77 - 23.
