ICYMI: Haywood County holds Memorial Day ceremony honoring 109 service members lost in combat

U.S. Rep. David Kustoff joined county leadership and veterans at the event

HAYWOOD COUNTY, Tenn. (WBBJ) - Haywood County hosted a Memorial Day ceremony for lost veterans, with an appearance from U.S. Rep. David Kustoff.

Since the Civil War, Haywood County has lost 109 service members in combat. County leadership, veterans in the community and Kustoff remembered those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their freedom.

Kustoff explained what Memorial Day means to him and other representatives.

“Events like this, they are truly bipartisan. A lot of times we focus on the division in our country, and the division is there don’t get me wrong, but when you’re at an event like this, and really all over, we’re all Americans,” Kustoff said.

Kustoff was one of several speakers at the event.
