I-69 in Kentucky to I-69 in Tennessee

Description: The funding would be used to construct a section of I-69 in South Fulton, Obion County Tennessee. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because I-69 is an integral part of the High Priority Corridor 18 across mid-America. Corridor 18 originated with the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991, whereby Congress designated certain highway corridors of national significance to be included in the National Highway System.

I-40 Exit 39 Interchange Construction

Description: The funding would be used to construct the interchange to serve the imminent industrial development at Blue Oval City, located at the Memphis Regional Megasite in Haywood County, Tennessee. The proposed interchange is located along I-40 in northern Fayette County. This improvement is needed to improve operational efficiency and improve the connection between the Memphis Regional Megasite and the surrounding area.

I-40 Exit 42 Interchange

Description: The funding would be used to construct the interchange to serve the imminent industrial development at Blue Oval City, located at the Memphis Regional Megasite in Haywood County, Tennessee. The proposed interchange is located along I-40 in northern Fayette County. The location is situated approximately seven miles from Exit 35 (SR-59) and three miles from Exit 39 to the west. This improvement is needed to improve operational efficiency and improve the connection between the Memphis Regional Megasite and the surrounding area.

Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) Building at MEM, Memphis, TN
Project Recipient: Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority
Location: 2491 Winchester Road, Memphis, TN 38116
Description: The funding would be used to complete a combined Design and Construction (Design-Build) of a Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) Facility for storage of snow removal equipment. The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because MEM is the number two cargo airport in the world and number one in North America. The benefit is to protect the significant investments in snow removal equipment and to help ensure that cargo and passenger operations aren't impacted during the winter months.

McKeller-Sipes Regional Airport Hangars

Location: 505 Deaderick Street, Suite 700, Nashville, TN 37243
Description: The funding would be used to construct three 8,000 square foot (SF) T-hangars with approximately 81,160 SF of associated airfield pavement and approximately 38,850 SF of landside drive and parking. Additionally, the funding would be used to construct three 10,000 SF corporate hangars with a 2,000-SF office lean-to. The corporate hangars need approximately 73,800 SF of associated airfield pavement and approximately 37,520 SF of landside drive and parking. Repairing, milling, and overlaying all existing landside asphalt roads and parking, in addition to replacement of failing sidewalk will be used with the funds. In September 2021, Ford Motor Company announced the selection of West Tennessee for the future home of Blue Oval City. The planned investment has sparked numerous subsidiary companies in the region to supply resources. The McKellar-Sipes Regional Airport hangar improvement will benefit the rapid commercial, industrial, and business travel needs while increasing the communities access to regional flights closer to their local community.

Poplar Avenue Culverts Phase V

Description: The funding would be used to construct, repair, and replace six primary culverts and pipes under Polar Avenue. Currently, the environmental and design services are complete for the Phase V project. Poplar Avenue is a state route (SR 57/ US 72) running east to west across the city. It carries the largest volume of traffic through Germantown’s commercial business district. Failure of the corrugated metal pipes would cause market disruption adversely impacting the local economy and possible injury and harm to motorists. The funding would enable the city to meet critical infrastructure needs.

Savannah, Tennessee Local Road

Description: The funding will be used to improve existing roads and provide expanded usage of active transportation and reduce vehicle dependence through easier access to aquatic transportation via the Tennessee River Federal Waterway. This project also will increase access to essential destinations like places of employment, healthcare, grocery stores, schools, places of worship, recreation, and parks through anticipated economic investments across the community as the Savannah Marina project is fully completed.

City of Bartlett Sewer Equalization Tank
Project Recipient: City of Bartlett
Location: 6400 Stage Road Bartlett, TN 38134
Description: The funding will install a 6,000,000-gallon sewer EQ tank near the intersection of Yale Road and Brother Blvd. In 2012, the City of Memphis was issued a Consent Decree by the EPA regarding their Sanitary Sewer Overflow violations. This led to the EPA requiring the City of Memphis to implement changes and upgrades to their Sewer System to avoid future overflows. Since then, the City of Memphis requested that the City of Bartlett also implement changes because a large portion of Bartlett’s sewer is discharged to the City of Memphis sewer system. This is a good use of taxpayer funds because Bartlett and Memphis’ sewer capacity is currently limited.

Gibson County Emergency Generator
Project Recipient: Tennessee Emergency Management Agency
Location: 3041 Sidco Dr, Nashville, TN 37204
Description: The funding will supply the Emergency Operations Center with a new natural gas emergency generator. The Center houses the main offices of first responder disciplines, such as the Gibson County Emergency Management, Gibson County Fire Department Office, and the Gibson County Emergency Medical Services. In addition to the first responder services, the facility contains the Central Control office, HAM operator room, and radio communication devices. This project is a valuable use of taxpayer funds by offering continued communication within the local and state government for response and recovery efforts.

University of Tennessee at Martin Security Upgrades
Project Recipient: University of Tennessee at Martin
Location: 554 University St, Martin, TN 38237
Description: The funding would allow the college campus to purchase electronic access control hardware for exterior doors and access-controlled areas within campus buildings to provide additional outdoor lighting and hardware across campus to increase visibility. Additionally, the funding allows the purchase of emergency operations equipment to outfit an Emergency Operations Center on campus. These tax dollars can directly support the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff on campus. The funding will better equip the UT Martin Department of Public Safety to work in coordination with local law enforcement.
